A “horrific” photo has emerged from the fatal car accident that killed Diogo Jota and his brother in Spain on Thursday.
Jota, 28, died in a car accident in Spain on Thursday, according to police. Th e brothers were reportedly driving in a Lamborghini that veered off the road, crashed and became engulfed in flames. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed that Jota and his brother, 25, were found dead near the northwestern city of Zamora.
The star professional footballer played for Liverpool and internationally for Portugal.
“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support,” the club said.

“Horrific” photos have since emerged from the fatal car accident on Thursday.
Video from the Associated Press shows that the car had been completely incinerated by the flames.
More photos and videos of the crash have begun to surface on social media, too.
It’s terrible.
Portugal remains incredibly saddened.
“The Portuguese Futebol Federation and all Portuguese Futebol are completely devastated with the deaths of Diogo Jota and André Silva this morning in Spain,” Portugal FA president, Dr. Pedro Proenca, said in a statement.
Portugal prime minister Luis Montenegro released a statement, too.
“The news of the death of Diogo Jota, an athlete who greatly honored Portugal’s name, and his brother is unexpected and tragic. I extend my deepest condolences to their family. It is a sad day for football and for national and international sports,” Montenegro said.
The professional soccer player had just gotten married a couple of weeks ago.
