Royal Fans Gush Over Prince William and Kate Middleton’s ‘Beautiful’ Family as They Unveil Christmas Card Following ‘Trying’ Year

The Prince and Princess of Wales released this year’s family Christmas card to the public on Thursday, Dec. 19, and fans couldn’t help but gush over the royals after the “trying” year the family has had.
“Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” it said on the left, while the right side showcased a sweet family portrait of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
The queen-to-be was positioned in the middle of the group, with her left arm swung around the backs of her two eldest children, with Princess Charlotte swinging her own arms over her brother, Prince George, and her mother’s shoulders.
On Kate’s right sat William, who slung his arm around their youngest, Prince Louis, who snuggled up into his dad’s side with a cheesy grin.
“Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas 🎄,” they emphasized in the caption of their Instagram post.
While some fans noted that the card seemed to contain an old photo, likely taken over the summer based on the family’s attire, most gushed over the “lovely” photo boasting their “beautiful” family, wishing them all a healthy new year after Kate’s year of cancer treatments.
“Merry Christmas Prince William and Princess Kate, hope this year brings health and happiness to your family and holds the brightest of futures,” one commenter said, while another wrote, “Beautiful card and family. Enjoy your precious Christmas after such a trying year. ❤️.”
“Been waiting anxiously to see your Christmas card,” another admitted, calling it “absolutely beautiful as always.”
“Lovely picture ❤️. Happy holidays to you all 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!” someone else replied.
“Happy Christmas your royal highnesses! I hope the joy of Princess Catherine’s recovery makes this the most special one yet ❤️,” the praise continued.
One even called it their “Favourite one yet,” though it’s unclear if they meant of the family’s—with last year’s featuring a black-and-white studio snapshot—or of celebrity cards in general, with Jenna Bush Hager’s sparking strong reactions this year.
